The Economic Development Alliance of Pickens County (Alliance Pickens) is empowered by, and works closely with, the government of Pickens County. Companies may negotiate with Pickens County for incentives, and all taxes are adhered to by Pickens County and the State of South Carolina.

Federal, State, and local resources are available to support the efforts of small business owners whether you’re just starting your business or working on a plan that will help it grow.
Under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration the Small Business Development Center (SC SBDC) program was established to aid small business start-up ventures and to assist in the continued growth of small businesses across the country. The program is supported with federal, state and private funds and is open to any present or prospective small business owner generally fee free.

The South Carolina Business One Stop or SCBOS is the official South Carolina business web portal.
The goals of the Office of Small and Minority Business Assistance (OSMBA) are to promote the growth and development of small and minority-owned businesses in South Carolina and to advocate that an equitable portion of State procurement contracts be awarded to small and minority-owned businesses.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) was created in 1953 as an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of our nation.
Opportunity Zones
The Opportunity Zone incentive is a community development program designed to encourage long-term private investments in low-income communities. This program provides a federal tax incentive for taxpayers who reinvest unrealized capital gains into “Opportunity Funds,” which are specialized vehicles dedicated to investing in areas designated as an “Opportunity Zone.” In Pickens County, three (3) census tracts have been selected as Opportunity Zones.
