According to ElringKlinger leaders, construction is going as scheduled for the massive plant near the Greenville-Pickens Speedway
EASLEY, S.C. —
Construction is in full swing along Calhoun Memorial Highway in Pickens County. According to Jürgen Weingärtner, with ElringKlinger, they plan to create batteries for electric vehicles on site. The first of two concrete pads have been poured, set to be the host of production lines.
“The move-in for equipment and commissioning is February, March, and April, and it’s going to be a launch phase, training people and dialing in the equipment. Towards August, September, we will be shipping first product from here to our customer,” he said.
According to human resources employee Erica Carson, they’re hoping to provide create over one hundred jobs. She encourages anyone interested to send a resume to careers-eksc@elringklinger.com or visit their website.
“Some of the positions would be engineers. We’re looking for R&D [Research and Development], skill production. Of course, we’re looking for some specialists and quality,” she said.
The company is hoping to connect with local graduates, too, and is working on a program that recruits college students.
“We want to make sure we have, as ElringKlinger, a local engineering community on site here to serve our customers here versus going to different places in the states or even in Europe,” Weingärtner said.
This comes as the rest of the site, near the Greenville-Pickens Speedway, is slowly turning into an industrial park.
