PICKENS COUNTY – Two Pickens County companies, JM Mold South and United Tool and Mold, both of Easley, were recently recognized by MoldMaking Technology, a top industry publication, as “Lead-Time Leaders”. MoldMaking Technology, which considers companies from across the United States, chooses only four companies in two categories to receive the award each year. The large group of potential winners and the limited number of awards makes the selection of two companies located only a few miles apart even more remarkable; however the success of the two Pickens County firms is no surprise to Ray Farley, Executive Director of Alliance Pickens.
“United Tool and Mold and JM Mold South are outstanding examples of the type of high-quality, talented companies that we have here in Pickens County,” said Farley. “That two companies, located within the same community, would be recognized as leaders in their industry is a testament to the hard work and dedication of each firm and the excellent reputation that each has earned with their customers.”
“JM Mold South and United Tool and Mold are invaluable members of our Pickens County Manufacturing Community,” Farley continued.
United Tool and Mold and JM Mold South design, produce and repair molds for a variety of customers from the automotive industry to aerospace manufacturers to those involved in the production of lawn and garden equipment.
To be recognized as a “Lead-Time Leader”, mold making companies must submit applications which include detailed information about their on-time delivery, training and technology investments and submit references from their customers. The applications are then reviewed by a panel of judges selected by MoldMaking Technology including experts in the industry with a wide range of experience.
For Scott Phipps, President of United Tool and Mold, winner of the “2011 Lead-Time Leader Award, Winner-Large Shop”, being recognized is just another reflection of the company’s desire to provide their customers with a superior product in an efficient and timely manner.
“The best product that we can give to our customers is our service. Through the dedication of our employees we are able to provide our customers with results, not expectations. It is that commitment that has allowed us to grow our business to where it is today,” said Phipps.
At JM Mold South, winner of the “2011 Lead-Time Leader Award, Honorable Mention-Small Shop”, exceeding customer expectations isn’t the exception, it’s the rule.
According to Rich Martin, JMMS Business Development Manager, the company has re-evaluated and retooled both its strategy and operations over the last two years. “We had the financial strength to make substantial capital investments in best in class technologies,” said Martin. “We invested additional resources into IT. And we revised our branding and implemented an integrated marketing program.”
“Based on implementing these strategies we have been able to better serve our customers and gain national recognition in the process,” Martin continued.
