Auto Supplier To Locate In Pickens County – Gsa Business

Michigan-based VCI-SC Inc., a metal-parts manufacturer, announced Tuesday it will create up to 50 jobs and make a $2 million investment with the opening of a new facility in Pickens County.
The company is an automotive supplier for BMW Manufacturing Co. in Spartanburg County and other original equipment manufacturers. It’s also involved with the aerospace, energy, industrial and military sectors.
“The Upstate was a perfect fit for us to move our company here,” VCI Inc. President Gene Harrison said, noting that operations in Michigan will remain open too. “The customer base is already loyal to us in the area and to our surprise the manufacturing support in this area is tremendous, and a lot of our own suppliers are already here.”
The company will locate in an existing building at 2632 Farrs Bridge Road, the S.C. Department of Commerce, Pickens County Council and Alliance Pickens announced today.
VCI Inc., based in Strugis, Mich., specializes in material handling and contract manufacturing. The company does concept development, three-dimensional design, solid modeling, prototyping, production laser cutting, CNC brake press bending, machining, cold saw cutting, welding, parts assembly and parts finishing.
“Despite the difficult business climate that we live in every day, that we read about in the newspapers and see on the news, VCI is thriving,” Pickens County Council Chairwoman Jennifer Willis said. “They are growing and they are going to continue growing in Pickens County.”
